One of my local gins also happens to be one of my favourites. South West London’s Graveney Gin has its home in Tooting Market, and it’s there where you’ll find their small but perfectly formed gin bar.
‘Inspired by the pure love of gin’
Victoria Christie, the brains behind Graveney Gin, created the hands-on organic micro-distillery back in 2015. She was inspired, as it says on the bottle, ‘by the pure love of gin’ as well as her travels and her childhood growing up in South Africa and Scotland. This led to her choosing angelica, orris root, pink grapefruit, orange, baobab and pink peppercorns to combine with the juniper as the 7 botanicals to create the London Dry’s unique flavour.
It’s punchy on the nose but you immediately get the fruity notes through. To garnish, Victoria suggests a slice of pink grapefruit to highlight those citrus flavours in the gin and I tend to pair with a Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic to compliment this further.
Last year they redesigned the packaging and I can’t get enough of the beautiful look they’ve chosen. The bold colours really stand out on the bottle and catch your eye alongside other gins. If all this wasn’t already enough to get it added to your wishlist, Victoria’s passion for animals has led it to be a socially conscious gin too with 10% of the profits going to gorilla conservation projects.
Such a delicious gin!
