Fundraising and Pink Gin cocktails

Drink

Earlier this year I started working at a fantastic charity called Breast Cancer Care. Every summer they run a great fundraising initiative called Afternoon Tea where supporters host parties to raise money to support the vital work the charity does. I couldn’t resist getting involved and combining two of my passions, gin and supporting good causes, by hosting an Afternoon G&Tea!

Warner Edwards, Malfy, and Pin Gin pink gins

Love them or loathe them, pink gins are huge right now.

Thanks to the very generous support of Warner Edwards, Pin Gin and Malfy Gin, together with my wife Kirstin we were able to host an event for friends and family with some of the finest pink gins on the market. Not pink as a marketing gimmick, but pink through the botanicals chosen, while remaining juniper forward in flavour.

Event guests enjoying a Warner Edwards Floradora cocktail

We knew that each of the gins that we’d be tasting would have very unique flavours and profiles. It was important to choose cocktails that would suit each of them individually but also be simple enough to create quickly for our guests.

Malfy Gin Rosa

Malfy Gin Rosa – Pink Grapefruit Gin & Tonic

The event kicked off with a fairly classic G&T, featuring Malfy’s delicious Rosa gin. Light and refreshing, served with Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic water, and garnished with a pink grapefruit wedge and sprig of rosemary. It really brought the Mediterranean to our small slice of South West London and was a brilliant way to ease people in, especially those who have only had gin served with tonic before.

  • 50ml Malfy Gin Rosa
  • Ice
  • Pink grapefruit wedge
  • Sprig of fresh rosemary
  • 150ml Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic

Strawberry Pin Gin

Pin Gin Strawberry Infused – Strawberry Bramble

Next up was a twist on the classic Bramble, one of my favourite cocktails, featuring Pin Gin’s Strawberry Infused edition. Fresh strawberries took the place of the darker berries normally associated with the drink, and helped to highlight the beautiful flavours of the summery gin.

  • 50ml Pin Gin Strawberry Infused
  • Dash of sugar syrup
  • 25ml Lemon juice
  • Crushed ice
  • Lightly pulsed strawberries
  • Splash of blackberry liqueur
  • Halved strawberries and mint leaves to garnish

Warner Edwards Rhubarb Gin

Warner Edwards Victoria’s Rhubarb Gin – Floradora

Next up was a Floradora with Warner Edwards’ Rhubarb gin. I’d never made one of these before, but couldn’t resist the idea of pairing the classic flavour of rhubarb with ginger and lime. It balanced brilliantly and ended up being a big favourite and can’t wait to make it again!

  • 50ml Warner Edwards Rhubarb gin
  • Ice
  • Lime juice
  • Blackberry liqueur
  • Splash of raspberry juice
  • 100ml Fever Tree Ginger Ale
  • Fresh raspberries to garnish

Warner Edwards Sloe Gin

Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin – Sloe Gin Cooler

Lastly was another Warner Edwards’ creation with a Sloe Gin Cooler. I know this one’s more red than pink, but bear with me (it was too delicious not to feature). It was great to be able to include something really different to finish, and hopefully convince our guests that sloe gin isn’t just for the winter.

  • 50ml Warner Edwards Sloe Gin
  • Ice
  • 100ml Fever Tree Lemon Tonic

Decorations and signs at the event

The event has already raised over £200 which will make such a difference to people affected by breast cancer when they need it most. Thanks again to Warner Edwards, Bottomley Distillery (Pin Gin) and Malfy Gin as without their support this event couldn’t have happened.
